North East Hospitals Take Extra Steps Towards Health and Wellbeing Initiative

The Staff Engagement Group at Cobalt Hospital in Newcastle have been working to improve staff health and wellbeing by encouraging staff to take part in the Virgin Pulse Challenge.

Staff from Cobalt Hospital, Newcastle and Tees Valley Hospital, Middlesbrough have some ‘healthy’ competition in the Virgin Pulse Challenge which involves measuring daily steps, learning useful techniques for mental wellbeing and increased sleep and healthy nutritional advice.

The challenge also included a staff walk which provided the opportunity for the team to build up some extra steps whilst enjoying some social time with colleagues and family.

Cobalt Hospital stepped up to the challenge defeating its compettion with a combned 5,739,612 steps, but the true winners were all staff that took part who reported that the challenge was a great idea and that they look forward to another challenge in the near future.
